CODE was contracted by Iroquois Gas and ENSR to (1) manage contaminated wastes associated with the installation of a new Natural Gas Pipeline and (2) remediate contaminated soils within the footprint of the new M&R Station at the ConEdison Hunts Point Compressor Station in the Bronx.
CODE constructed and operated a soils staging and handling facility that received coal-tar impacted soils and sediments from a 3,800 LF pipeline installation trench which ran from the river to the M&R site. Soils and debris were stockpiled, screened, sampled and characterized for off site disposal. Sediments were dewatered and stabilized. CODE coordinated operations daily with other site contractors to insure it kept up with the trench excavation and maintained the aggressive project schedule.
CODE also excavated and removed coal tar contaminated materials from select areas within the footprint of the M&R Station. This work was done in close proximity to other active site construction work. CODE coordinated all traffic associated with shipments of wastes leaving the site and fill materials brought in for placement.
Inventory in excess of 20,000 CY of materials were identified and sampled, characterized, and removed. The project was completed on schedule and in line with the site construction requirements.
