Three (3) baghouses,
One (l) vacuum dust collection system,
Numerous air handling systems,
3000 l.f. of process piping,
Three (3) reactors,
Six (6) mixing machines, and
Various laboratories.
The entire inventory of interior surfaces cleaned was in excess of 150,000 s.f. The units and systems contained a variety of intermediate and finished organic pharmaceutical compounds. As such, all personnel had to be screened for toxic and allergic reactions to the compounds being removed. Certain areas had to be individually sealed off and placed under negative air during the cleaning operations. CODE's site specific H&S Plan was designed to address the unique hazards associated with each project phase. Particulate air monitoring was conducted throughout the course of the project.
CODE used the following operational procedures and protective equipment in support of this project:
Hot and Cold Pressure Washing
Non-Sparking Ramex Pipe/Tube Cleaning
Mechanical Vacuuming
HEPA Filters
Levels C, B, and A PPE
Residual solid waste products were collected and packaged for off-site thermal incineration. Wastewater from the pressure washers was collected and sent to the facility's existing wastewater treatment plant.
The project was conducted on a strict schedule during the plant's normal working hours.
