CODE provides the following remedial action and redevelopment services to Cytec Industries (formerly American Cyanamid Co.) under an Environmental Services Agreement:

Environmental Design & Construction
Plant Decontamination
Full and Partial Facility Demolition
AST/UST Clean-Out & Closure
Contaminated Soil Remediation
Waste Handling
High Hazard Remediation
Site Capping and Landfill/Lagoon Closure (see below)

CAP CONSTRUCTION: Constructed an asphalt cap and two soil cover caps at the American Cyanamid Superfund Site in Bound Brook, NJ. Installed a geotextile liner and soil cover cap at Cytec's polymer manufacturing plant in Woodbridge, NJ.

LANDFILL CLOSURE: Remediated Landfill Nos. 1 and 2 at Cytec's agricultural research facility in Princeton, NJ. Landfill No. 1 was a surficial mound that contained vegetative material, construction debris, discarded equipment, and a limited number of laboratory waste containers. Landfill No. 2 consisted of two subsurface disposal trenches that held thousands of laboratory waste containers and glassware. Excavated material (soil, concrete rubble, construction debris, etc.) was processed through a power screen; segregated; and relocated to a containment cell in a lay-down area pending off-site T&D. Containers of unknown chemicals were extracted, characterized, and lab-packed or consolidated (as appropriate) for off-site T&D. This high hazard operation was performed in Level B PPE. Both remediated landfill areas were be covered with "clean" topsoil, graded, and hydroseeded prior to close-out.

LAGOON CLOSURE: Closed an operable unit and surface empoundment containing VOC, SVOC and metals contaminated sludge at a former American Cyanamid facility in Willow Island, WV. Sludges were fixated with lime kiln dust within the confines of the lagoon via in-situ stabilization to facilitate off-site T&D. The remediated lagoon was put back into operation.

SURFACE LAGOON CLOSURE/CONSTRUCTION: Closed-out an existing surface lagoon impoundment, demolished a WWTP, and constructed a new retention basin at Cytec's Woodbridge, NJ plant.
